This past weekend I participated in a running relay called the Blue Ridge Relay. The race started in Grayson Highlands State Park in Virginia and finished 208.1 miles down the road in Asheville, NC. The race was mainly run on back roads through the beautiful Appalachian Mountains. My team consisted of 5 other runners who run with me from the store and our faithful driver who drove the entire route. Each runner had to run 6 different legs of varying distances from 1.9 miles to 10.0 miles. The total mileage for my 6 legs was 45.9 miles. Even without the proper training, I was able to complete my mileage without any major problems. Surprisingly just a few days removed from the event I am walking normal even up and down stairs. Our team finished 6th in our division out of 12 teams and 46th overall out of 79 teams. Our finish time was 30:59:37. Yes, that is pretty much 31 hours of racing with no sleep. We started at 10 AM on Friday morning and finished at 5 PM on Saturday afternoon. Needless to say we all slept great Saturday night.

Finishing up my first leg of 7.5 miles. I only had 38.4 miles to go!

This was my first time away from Lauren since she was born and I didn't realize how much I would miss her. It was so great to see them on Sunday morning when I returned.
