Today is Lauren's last day going to Aunt Jenny's house for Kerkhoff Daycare. Today, Lauren will have Abby and Jacob (Ryan's cousins) to play with, as they spent the night last night with Jenny, Tyler, and Bryce. So today will be a fun day for Lauren.
Monday, Lauren will start Discovery Point fulltime. She has adjusted well during the last 3 times she visited the school. Ryan and I really like her teachers, Ms. Dawn and Miss Lindsey, as well as the owner, Ms. Michelle and the director, Ms. Pam. They are very excited that Lauren will be joining them for the upcoming year. Lauren went to daycare yesterday and when we were leaving the classroom to go home for the evening, Lauren waved bye-bye to Evyn, the little girl in the crib next to her's. We stopped by Runners Fit to see Ryan before going home and Ryan commented on how happy she seemed. Lauren really likes being at school. That makes the adjustment for mom and dad a lot easier.
We are glad Lauren is adjusting well to daycare but nothing replaces the love and attention that she receives when she is with Aunt Jenny, Uncle Hal, Tyler, and Bryce. Here is a list of all the things she has learned while at Kerkhoff Daycare..
1. when we say nigh-nigh, that means she is going upstairs to sleep. We lay her down and hardly ever hear a peep out of her.
2. she can sign finish and more
3. she gives kisses
4. she waves bye bye
5. she gives hugs to Tyler
6. she gives screams to Bryce (they love to torment each other)
7. she doesn't pinch as much, nor hit the spoon with food on it anymore.
8. she will lay down on the changing mat to get her diaper changed (though she lays down on it face first and Aunt Jenny has to flip her over).
9. she is still working on sharing
10. she learned to open her mouth really wide when she is excited or happy. It is something Aunt Jenny taught her and it is the funniest thing to see.
...There are too many things to list, but I think you get the idea that she loves her Aunt Jenny, Uncle Hal, Tyler, and Bryce. I think on some days she would rather stay there instead of going home when I come to pick her up. (I truly think this because when I say "Let's go home", she screams at me and scurries around to the far side of the coffee table). Kerkhoff Daycare has helped us get Lauren to the point where she has the personality to rule the daycare. For all that they have done, Ryan and I are very thankfull and very appreciative. I just hope Aunt Jenny comes to our house for potty training.
