Today, we had our first major ouchie. Lauren, Ryan, and I were outside in the front yard letting Lauren walk up and down the sidewalk by herself. Of course, Ryan was by her side the entire way to make sure she wouldn't wander into the street. Lauren's little toes got caught in the crack of the concrete and she took a face plant onto the driveway. I thought for sure when Ryan picked her up we were going to see blood streaming down her face. Fortunately, there were only scrapes and bruises, and a slight nose bleed (we think from the scraped skin more than a busted nose). We brought her inside to assess the damage and to administer TLC, ice pack, and a green frozen popcicle. Ten minutes later she was running around the house like nothing happened.
It looks like her forehead was swollen, but it isn't. Just scraped and red.
I think the best medicine was the green popcicle.
Lauren wanted to hold the ice pack by herself. She would hold it for a couple of seconds and then drop it and say oooh (I think because it was cold).
See I'm fine!
Lauren will probably have a swollen lip and bruised nose and forehead when she goes to school tomorrow.
(I've checked on her several times during the evening just to make sure everything remains okay).
